What's the difference between a regular photo session and a photo session at a convention?
The biggest difference is the people. Most of the time when we are photographing someone at a convention it's someone who is super creative and has lots of ideas for poses and looks for their characters. Some times they leave it up to us to be the creative side but a lot of times they know what they are looking for. Like these guys below who wanted to do a shot on her shoulders. Who was I to say no to such an adventurous shot!
Another difference is the energy around the session. People tend to be extremely excited to be at the convention and the vibe of the surrounding is extremely contagious. It's such an exciting environment to photograph in because everyone is just so darn happy to be there!
It's always been a dream of mine to be more involved with cosplay photography and now that I am finally able to do that it is such a blessing. I am always learning and improving my skills and it's so easy to do when you are surrounded by such amazing people. Hopefully I will be able to do this more full time and really get to dive into it as not only a hobby but as a full time job.
If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
