We are extremely excited to be joining together and becoming a single photography studio after many years of having separate entities and identities of our own. Richard and I are have been looking forward to this moment for a long time.
How did you meet?:
We first met almost seven years ago while working aboard a Holland America Cruise Ship. Richard was working as a videographer and I was one of the several photographers on our team. Funny how it took us traveling to a different country to find each other when back home we only lived two hours away from each other. We shared so many adventures together and when our contracts were finished we know we would be together for awhile.
Fast forward three years, another cruise ship contract and countless adventures later, we got married and have been living our happily ever after. Richard got a job with the North Georgia Technical College, where he graduated from, as a photography lab assistant, and I went back to my love of School Photography with Strawbridge Studios.
What is your favorite thing to photograph?:
I love photographing people. Being able to catch a special moment or freeze time feels like a super power sometimes. The feeling I get when I show someone their photo and they light up with joy is truly an amazing feeling.
Richard also enjoys photographing people. He loves hearing their stories and their life experiences. Those feelings are a learning experience and really help to bring another level of intimacy to a photography session.
Nikon or Canon?:
We both use Nikon. It's one of those things, it's what we learned on, it's what we stuck with. At the end of the day it's not the equipment that takes a good photo, it's the person behind the equipment.
Hobbies?:
We are both big nerds. We love everything from Star Wars, to video games, reading, and costuming. Richard and I love attending conventions and dressing up as some of our favorite characters. Cosplay, aka costuming, has been a big part of our lives. Our favorite costumes include Poison Ivy, Hawke from Dragon Age, my Mandalorian, his Republic Commando, and Sith costumes. Once, sometimes twice, a year we also attend Highland Games where we enjoy Scottish culture, music, food, and dance, and love to dress up and enjoy the festivities.
We also are huge fans of music. It's been awhile since we have been able to attend concerts but back when those were happening we loved to go and listen to all sorts of music. From Metallica to Lindsay Sterling. It's going to be nice to be able to go to a crowded venue again.
And obviously photography.
